Buying guide
1. Wood behaves differently from printed card
A timber slice will not crease or curl the way a printed board does, and it takes a knock without cracking. What it does do is move with humidity: keep it indoors, or bring it in after the season, and it will hold its shape across several Octobers.
2. Grain means every piece is slightly different
Because it is a natural log slice, the outline, the bark edge and the grain pattern vary from piece to piece. That variation is the look, not a defect – two side by side will never be identical.
3. Where it works best
It reads well at the scale of a door, porch table or mantel: roughly 30 cm is big enough to be legible from a few steps away and small enough not to dominate a shelf. If you are styling a table, pair it with one other height and leave the rest alone.
4. Hanging it without damaging the wall
The sign is light, so a removable adhesive hook or a single small pin is plenty. Weigh it in your hand first: if it feels heavier than a mug, use a proper hook rather than adhesive. On painted walls, test the adhesive in an inconspicuous spot first.
5. Care and storage between seasons
Dust with a dry cloth and store it flat somewhere dry rather than in a damp garage or loft. Prolonged moisture is what warps timber and lifts printed finishes; a dry box with a sheet of paper between pieces is enough.
